Celebrating the overlooked aspects of urban life through photography, writing, and illustration, Pigeon Magazine tells the story of the people, places, and things that are vital to the city. I was tasked with creating the branding and in-feed graphics for the project. After its release, SugarFree was recognized by the Shorty Impact Awards, the Effie Impact Awards, Webby, and Fast Company. The projecgt was also featured by Campaign Magazine and KOMO News. The same systems of democratization and mass reach that benefit protest movements on social networks can also muddle and obscure, leaving a message distorted and warped. The distortion seen in the graphic was created using by repeatedly taking a picture of an image on a screen, and then a picture of that photo, and so on. Manchester School of Art challanged their design students to create a succinct set of covers for the books.
